Brachioplasty – Arm Lift

Brachioplasty: Arm Lift Surgery
Excess upper arm skin can make it challenging to feel confident — especially after significant weight loss or as skin elasticity naturally changes over time. At Hillcrest Plastic Surgery, we can help you restore smoother, firmer arm contours with arm lift surgery.
Our approach is personalized, patient-centered and led by experienced cosmetic surgery specialists who focus on achieving exemplary results while prioritizing safety, education and realistic expectations.
What Is Brachioplasty?
Brachioplasty, or an arm lift, is a type of surgery that removes excess fat and skin from the upper arms, typically between the underarm and elbow.
An arm lift may involve:
- Removing loose or sagging skin.
- Reducing localized fat deposits.
- Tightening underlying tissues for improved contour.
Why Patients Consider an Arm Lift
Upper arm concerns can develop for several reasons. Many of our patients seek brachioplasty after noticing:
- Genetic factors that affect arm shape.
- Age-related loss of elasticity that causes sagging.
- Loose skin following weight loss, even after diet and exercise.
- Difficulty wearing fitted clothing or feeling confident in sleeveless styles.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Brachioplasty?
Ideal candidates for an arm lift typically:
- Are in good overall health.
- Have noticeable upper arm skin laxity.
- Are at or near a stable, healthy weight.
- Do not smoke or are willing to stop before surgery.
- Have realistic expectations about outcomes and scarring.
During your consultation, one of our knowledgeable cosmetic surgery specialists will review your medical history, evaluate your arms and help determine if brachioplasty is right for you.
Types of Arm Lift Procedures
Because every patient’s anatomy and goals are different, Hillcrest Plastic Surgery offers multiple brachioplasty techniques.
- Standard arm lift: The most common approach involves an incision along the inner arm from the armpit to the elbow. This technique addresses moderate to significant skin laxity.
- Limited incision arm lift: Designed for patients with mild to moderate excess skin. Incisions are typically hidden within the underarm, resulting in less visible scarring.
- Extended arm lift: Used when excess skin extends beyond the arm and into the side of the chest. The incision continues past the armpit to achieve improved contours.
The Arm Lift Procedure: What to Expect
- Consultation: A detailed discussion of your goals, surgical options and recovery timeline.
- Anesthesia: Arm lift surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia.
- Surgery: Excess skin and fat are removed, and tissues are tightened.
- Closure: Incisions are carefully closed to support proper healing.
- Postoperative care: Compression garments and aftercare instructions help support recovery.
Recovery and Healing
Most patients return home the same day. Initial swelling and discomfort are expected and managed with prescribed medications. Activity is gradually increased over several weeks, with follow-up appointments to monitor healing and progress.
Benefits of Arm Lift Surgery
- More sculpted, proportionate arm contours.
- Improved comfort and clothing fit.
- Enhanced confidence in daily life.
- Long-lasting results with a healthy lifestyle.
Body Lift

Significant weight loss, aging or life changes can leave behind loose skin that doesn’t respond to diet or exercise alone. A body lift is designed to remove excess skin and fat while reshaping and tightening underlying tissues, helping you feel more comfortable, confident and aligned with the way you want your body to look.
At Hillcrest Plastic Surgery, body lift procedures are approached with care, precision and personalization. Our Orlando-based plastic surgery clinic serves local patients as well as individuals traveling from across the country and around the world for advanced body contouring procedures performed by experienced, board-certified surgeons.
What Is a Body Lift?
A body lift is a comprehensive surgical procedure that improves body contour by addressing loose, sagging skin and stubborn fat deposits. Rather than treating one isolated area, a body lift reshapes multiple regions to create smoother transitions and more balanced proportions.
The goals of body lift surgery include:
- Removing excess, hanging skin.
- Enhancing overall body shape and comfort.
- Tightening underlying tissue for improved firmness.
Rely on Result-Driven Surgery

Body Lift
This 53-year-old patient received a circumferential body lift after losing weight. As a result of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and receiving a body lift, this patient enjoys noticeably tighter skin around their abdominal area.
Who Is a Good Candidate for a Body Lift?
You may be a candidate for body lift surgery if you:
- Are in good overall health and do not smoke.
- Are committed to long-term lifestyle habits that support lasting results.
- Have experienced significant weight loss and maintained a stable weight.
- Have excess skin that causes discomfort, irritation or limits clothing options.
Types of Body Lift Procedures
Body lift surgery is not one-size-fits-all. Your surgical plan will be tailored to your needs and may include one or more of the following approaches:
Lower Body Lift
A lower body lift focuses on the abdomen, hips, outer thighs and buttocks. It often incorporates elements of a tummy tuck, liposuction and buttock lifting to create smoother contours around the midsection and lower body.
Upper Body Lift
An upper body lift targets the upper back, chest, breasts and arms. This approach may include a breast lift, a back lift or an arm lift to address excess skin and restore definition to the upper torso.
Circumferential Body Lift
A circumferential body lift addresses the entire torso in one comprehensive procedure, offering dramatic reshaping for patients with widespread skin laxity.
What to Expect During the Body Lift Process
Your experience begins with a personalized consultation focused on your goals and priorities. From there, your care team will walk you through each step, including:
- Surgical planning and anesthesia considerations.
- Incision placement based on your procedure type.
- Removal of excess skin and tightening of tissue.
- Post-operative care, including compression garments and recovery guidance.
Recovery and Long-Term Results
Recovery timelines vary depending on the extent of surgery, but most patients can expect:
- Early healing and limited activity in the first few weeks.
- Gradual return to regular routines over several months.
- Continued improvement as swelling resolves and scars mature.
Butt Lift (BBL) in Florida

When you're searching for a curvier, more shapely figure, a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) can create the lift and contour you want. Build your confidence at Hillcrest Plastic Surgery with a buttocks lift.
Achieve a Curvier Figure With a BBL in Florida
A BBL or buttock enlargement procedure involves adding more volume and shape to the buttocks with fat grafting. During this procedure, your surgeon will contour your waist with liposuction and inject the removed fat into the buttocks for more volume. In some cases, fat can also be removed from the thighs.
BBLs have become a popular method for creating a fuller, rounder shape, especially after significant weight loss. For those with less natural curve, butt lifts can also be a great option. At Hillcrest Plastic Surgery, we want to help you achieve your most confident self, and we perform butt lifts to create the curve that will make you feel good in your body.
The Benefits of Our Advanced Fat Transfer Technique
The specialized fat transfer technique we use for butt lifts is a better alternative to implants. With this method, your body does not have to accept a foreign implant, and there is no risk of allergic reaction. Using fat from your body also offers a more natural look and feel.
Safety is always at the forefront of our procedures. Dr. Spence applies industry best practices for a fat transfer BBL to create the curve you're looking for while keeping you safe. See examples of our work.
Are You a Good Candidate for a Butt Lift?
You are a good candidate for a BBL if you are in overall good health and do not have any medical conditions that might affect healing or increase surgery risk. Other signs that you are a good candidate for a butt lift include:
- Soft tissue or looseness in the buttocks that allows for fat injection.
- Realistic expectations around what a lift surgery can achieve.
- Sufficient available fat to transfer from the waist or thighs.
- Willingness to care for your body after surgery for healthy healing.
We can help you determine whether you're a good candidate for a BBL during your initial consultation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Brachioplasty FAQ
I have lost over 100lbs and there is a lot of sagging skin on my arms?
A Brachioplasty is the appropriate operation for you though many more invasive procedures have been tried to tighten redundant arm skin surgery is still the best answer.
I want to have a brachioplasty but I am afraid of the scar that crosses the elbow?
Our team at Hillcrest does not do brachioplasty (Arm lift) past the elbow but instead works the scar back into the arm pit. This lessens the visibility of the scar and also help to tighten the loose tissue in the armpit.
Do I have to go to sleep for a Brachioplasty?
No - Brachioplasties are often done under local anesthesia in Hillcrest's Orlando Brachioplasty Practice.
I don’t like the Brachioplasty (Arm lift) scar on the back of the arm as this is visible in an every dress. Is there any other way?
Our providers at Hillcrest plan Brachioplasty scars on the inside of the arm with his advanced scar protocol- the scars are often barely visible.
How do I prepare for an Arm Lift?
Preparation for an Arm Lift is similar to preparation for other body contouring procedures, adequate hydration, proper nutrition and smoking cessation are absolute musts.
Will I need drains for a Brachioplasty?
In Hillcrest's Orlando Brachioplasty practice many patients do not receive drains. On the rare occasion that they do, the drains are removed in 24 to 48 hours.
What is the down time for an Arm lift (Brachioplasty)?
This depends on the extent of the surgery. Mini brachioplasties with liposuction are sometimes able to return to work in 7 days. More extensive Brachioplasty may need as long as two weeks off due to the limitation of lifting your arms up over your head.
Will my hands swell after Brachioplasty?
There will be some hand swelling after brachioplasty. Vibration and squeezing a tennis ball while usually minimize this.

Butt Lift (BBL) in Florida
Thinking about getting a Brazilian Butt Lift but not quite sure yet? Here are some questions you may be asking before you make your decision.
How much does a buttock lift cost in Orlando?
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons says the average surgeon's fee for a traditional buttock lift is $7,062, and $7,264 for a BBL, although prices can run higher depending on the surgeon. From there, add anesthesiology fees, facility fees, post-op medication and any other items that may be needed for your recovery. Your cosmetic surgeon can provide a personalized quote after assessing your goals and recommending an approach that would work for you. Keep in mind that health insurance doesn't usually cover buttock enhancement, but you may be able to get financing through some providers.
What is the difference between a buttock lift and a Brazilian Butt Lift?
The difference between a buttock lift and a Brazilian Butt Lift comes down to the end result and the methods used to achieve it. A traditional butt lift removes extra loose skin and tissue to improve the shape of your buttocks and tone them up. This procedure doesn't add volume. It just addresses skin or tissue looseness. A BBL uses liposuction to remove fat from another area, like your waist or thighs, and transfers it to your buttocks to make them look fuller and rounder. Some patients may combine the two procedures, depending on their goals.
Am I a good candidate for a buttock lift?
You may be a good candidate for a buttock lift if you don't smoke, you're physically healthy, don't have any medical conditions that could prevent proper healing and you have realistic expectations about your results. If you have loose skin or excess soft tissue in the buttock area, especially after significant changes in your weight, a traditional butt lift may suit your needs. You may be a good candidate for a BBL if you want more volume or shape in your buttocks, and you have enough available fat to transfer. You should also be prepared to follow recovery instructions and maintain a healthy lifestyle so you can recover faster.
